Epiphany

Do you know what today is?  Yes, it is January 6th.  But if you are Catholic or Christian, you know it is also the Epiphany, also known as the Feast of the Three Kings.  In Polish, it is Święto Trzech Króli.

And if you are Polish, today is even more special.  The Epiphany has always been an important day for Poles.  However, today is the first time since 1960 that the Epiphany once again is a National Holiday.  It had previously been abolished by the Communists when they controlled Poland's government.

I contacted my Roman Catholic Church today to see about getting blessed chalk for marking our doorway, however, they don't offer that.  Back on the East Coast, I was a member of our local PNCC.

So, I might have to drive an hour to my closest PNC Church today.  We shall see how the day goes, as I do have lunch duty at my older daughter's school today...  Either way, I hope today inspires you to do many amazing things.

Note:  PNCC stands for Polish National Catholic Church.  The best way I can describe it is the Mass is just like a Roman Catholic Mass, with variations on singing vs. reciting of prayers based on regions and the preferance of the Father of each church.  The only difference that I have seen is that in the PNCC, the Father is allowed to marry and have children.

I remember the blessed chalk and the little box of frankincense and myrrh and a fake gold nugget. Marking the initials of the three kings and the year above our doorway.
