Red Currants

My husband found for me Red Currants at the store.  Granted, they are not in season and are imported.  But around this time of the year, I start craving red berries and fruits with a desperation.

Apparently, my children do as well....

The color reminded me that Spring is coming.  And I seriously needed the Vitamin C (77% DV for one cup serving) and Vitamin K (15% DV for one cup serving)...

So, I had mine with some heavy cream...

I also had some in a salad (a field greens mix with some yummy feta cheese and a balsamic vinaigrette, but I didn't take a picture since I was so hungry just looking at it)...

Smacznego!

Oh, that looks good. Spring IS coming! And those berries, those colors serve as a reminder of what's to come.

Spring is definitely coming. I have been taking pictures here and there of small signs of Spring and I plan to share them in a few days when I have enough to gloat over... :) Thanks for stopping by!
Ewa, the currants were a bit more bitter than the ones I ate at my cousin's garden in Poland in the middle of summer. They were imported from Chili. But hey, they were still good! Hope you find some soon!

The only one I could find here are the dried ones... I've been looking for fresh curratns since I got to US... It's sooo hard to find them! :-(
And whenever I ask somebody about fresh curratns they look at me like I'm crazy... Seriously!
